The Gran Teatre del Liceu, in collaboration with the Ballet de Catalunya, offers an outstanding educational opportunity for young dancers: the Ballet Masterclasses at Liceu.
These FREE sessions are designed for talented classical and pre-professional dancers who wish to refine their technique and artistry under the guidance of two of the most influential figures in the world of ballet: Susan Jaffe (Artistic Director, American Ballet Theatre) and Julie Kent (Artistic Director, Houston Ballet).
Held on the main stage of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, these masterclasses will immerse participants in a professional environment that inspires excellence, precision, and expressive artistry.

Each masterclass focuses on both technical excellence and artistic development, allowing participants to experience the work process of world-class professionals.
The sessions emphasize placement, coordination, musicality, control, and expressivity — key elements for a successful performance career.
Dancers will also receive practical advice on stage projection, use of space, and interpretative quality.
Age: 15 to 20 years (inclusive)
Minimum experience: At least 2 years of classical ballet training
Participation is open to students with strong motivation, discipline, and passion for dance.
The activity is completely free of charge, thanks to the collaboration between the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Ballet de Catalunya.

After your application is reviewed, you will receive an email confirmation with links to complete your digital signatures.
Your participation will only be confirmed once both forms are signed.
35 places are available per masterclass.
Only one registration per person is allowed (duplicates will be blocked).
All applicants from all schools are welcome to apply. However, to ensure diversity and equal opportunity among institutions, priority will initially be given to one or two students per school. If places remain available after the first selection round, additional students from the same school may be accepted.

Accepted participants will receive a confirmation email with all necessary details.
Arrive 45 minutes before your class time.
Entrance: La Rambla 51–59 (Ticket Office / Main Foyer).
Bring your ID/passport and confirmation email.
The organizing team will guide participants to the belongings area and then to the stage.
Please arrive fully dressed in classical ballet attire (leotard, tights, ballet shoes); changing rooms will not be available due to concurrent activities.
Warm-up clothing (to be removed before entering the stage).
Water bottle and towel if needed.
Bags must remain in the belongings area, which will be supervised.
Do not bring valuables; the organization is not responsible for loss or theft.
Each participant may bring up to two accompanying guests to watch from the auditorium.
These may include teachers, parents, relatives, or friends, and their admission is completely free of charge .
Access for accompanying guests will be through the Main Entrance of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, located at La Rambla 51–59, 08002 Barcelona.
Companions must present ID and accreditation linked to the participant.
Backstage and technical areas are restricted.
Masterclass 1 – Susan Jaffe (November 9)
Focus: classical line, musicality, coordination, controlled adagio, pirouettes, and diagonal sequences, with guidance on stage presence .
Masterclass 2 – Julie Kent (November 10)
Focus: quality of port de bras, épaulement, artistic projection, precision in allegro, and interpretation .
Punctuality is essential. Entry to the stage closes 10 minutes before class begins.
Proper ballet attire is mandatory.
The use of mobile phones or filming during class is prohibited unless authorized by the organization.
Respectful behavior toward teachers, staff, and fellow dancers is required at all times.
Non-compliance with these rules may result in exclusion from the activity.
All participants must sign:
A liability waiver (digital form; parental signature required for minors).
An image rights authorization, allowing photos or videos to be used for institutional and educational purposes.
All personal data will be handled in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Spanish law.
The information collected will be used exclusively for registration management, access control, and official communications regarding the event.
